1. What is the process for purchasing and installing a Kinser Silver Crown filter?
Purchasing a Kinser Air Filter for your Silver Crown car is a straight forward process. First you must determine if you would like a fiberglass or carbon fiber base plate for your system. After making your choice of base plates you are ready to place your order. Your Kinser Silver Crown car air filter will include the base plate, mesh filter basket, filter foam and an outerwear. You will also need to purchase base plate seals if you don't already have them. You should also determine if you would like to purchase the optional qualifying filter (see below) and a can of Klotz Foam Filter oil.
Once your filter arrives you will need to determine which of the included templates fits your air stack application. Once you have selected the proper template simply cut the base plate to the proper pattern. Next you will install your base plate seals into the base plate and apply silicon around them. Allow the silicone to completely dry. Oil the filter foam thoroughly and you are ready to begin assembly on your Silver Crown car.
Position the base plate and seals on your air
stacks. Place the filter basket on top of the base plate so that you
can easily see how much clearance exists between the top of the stacks and
the filter basket. This distance should be 1.5-2 inches. Slide
the base plate up or down on the stack until the desired basket clearance is
reached. Finally lock the base plate in place with hose clamps and
place the filter foam and outerwear over the basket and place on top of the
base plate. Work the elastic of the filter foam and outerwear around
the bottom of the base plate to hold the system securely together.

2. How do I clean my Kinser Silver Crown car filter?
Cleaning your Kinser Silver Crown car filter is very easy. Simply remove the filter foams and outerwear and clean in a mixture of mild soap and water. This will cause all of the debris trapped in the filter to be released. Rinse the foam and outerwear with water thoroughly and allow to dry. Once the foams and outerwear are dry, oil the foam with Klotz Filter Oil and place the foam and outerwear back over the basket and re-install on the car.
The frequency of cleanings depends on the amount of dirt and debris trapped in the filter foam. While some teams run their filters multiple times before cleaning and re-oiling--for best results we suggest cleaning the filter and re-oiling after each race weekend.

4. How far should the filter basket be from the top of the stacks?
The filter basket should be at least 1.5 to 2 inches higher than the top of the velocity stacks. This is accomplished by sliding the base plate and base plate seals along the stacks until the proper position is reached. Once the base plate and seals are in the proper position, lock them down. This optimizes filter performance and keeps the vacuum created at the top of the stacks from sucking the basket and filter element downwards.

5. Why is there an optional qualifying filter foam?
The optional qualifying filter foam increases the versatility of your Kinser Filter. Many teams choose to use just the qualifying filter foam during qualifying. Although the qualifying filter doesn't provide the protection of the regular filter oiled filter foam, it provides enough protection for the debris present during a qualifying session and maximizes airflow and ultimately performance. The qualifying filter is also useful for particularly harsh environments (extremely dusty conditions) where it can be placed over the regular oiled filter foam to deliver an extra layer of protection.
